Just making a general post real quick in response to an ask.

When I say I'm anti-ai I mean I'm against any sort of AI that steals from others or would otherwise be used to put people out of a job. I don't feel like having an elaborate conversation about the positives and negatives of AI and all that, so I'll state this as plainly as possible.

I don't like AI art. I don't like AI voice impersonations. I don't like any sort of AI that has to steal stuff from people without their consent in order to function. That is literally it.

I'm not against ALL AI. I don't think people that are okay with AI in general should be burned at the stake or something. I'm just an artist and writer that doesn't like AI being used in CREATIVE SPACES. That's it.

I didn't think I would have to clarify this but, here you go, for anyone that was bothered.

I'm sure most people already know about Ren's red room days, but for the newer folks: he used to livestream himself torturing his victims on the dark web. He would also harvest and sell their organs for extra cash.

His red room phase began after a group of upperclassmen started livestreaming themselves bullying people (Angel included) for attention online. If those teens wanted a taste of online fame that badly, Ren would be all too happy to give it to them — especially after he heard all the degrading things they said about Angel during their stream.

Ren has probably sniffed (licked???) Angel's underwear on multiple occasions lmao

He also keeps a bunch of their discarded cups, mugs, bottles, etc. — and on the days when he's feeling especially lonely — Ren likes to put his lips where Angel's would've been and treat it like it's an indirect kiss.

If Angel is fine with it, Ren would be more than willing to carve his name into their skin. He'd have to use an ample amount of his numbing cream though (typically reserved for when he gives himself tattoos and piercings), since he doesn't want them to be in any pain.

Similarly, he'd also be willing to carve their name into his skin as well — as many times as Angel would want. But he already has multiple tattoos of their name on his skin, so.... gksgsjj

I'm sure everyone already knows this, but Ren has an entire shrine dedicated to Angel. He keeps all his sentimental and stolen items there.

Ren genuinely has no empathy for anyone other than Angel, so if they were to ask him to murder his own mother (or his sister, his best friend, etc.) and bring back their heart, he'd do it with a smile on his face.

Because he has no empathy, Ren would probably enjoy watching snuff films like it's any other B-tier horror film. To him, it's just more research material on how he can get rid of his competition.

I've mentioned this in the past, but Ren has jacked off to the thought of Angel while in the library lol

I made a post back in 2022 that mentioned how Ren would willingly offer up any of his body parts to a cannibal!Angel, and I think the point still stands!!

He likes to put Angel's stolen laundry on his body pillow and rut into/hump it 😟

I once mentioned that Ren would slap a barcode sticker on his sledgehammer to make it look less... questionable whenever he carries it around in broad daylight — but alongside that, I think he'd also carry around some tools and an unopened can of paint to make it seem like he's just doing renovations. In reality, he'd probably force his victims to drink paint or gargle nails teehee

aw shit, i think tumblr obliterated an ask i was in the middle of posting. (or maybe i accidentally answered it privately? i can't tell for sure.) it was one i really looked forward to answering too >:(( so to the person who sent me that ask about watching madoka magica bc of my homunana post, my answer went a something like this:

it's not weird at all! i drew that pair of pieces due in part because my friend and i had a no-holds-barred au where we threw shows we watched into one nebulously defined universe and launched characters at each other to force them to 1) self-actualize 2) spiral 3) discover the power of friendship. it was ostensibly a crack au, but as i am who i am, it quickly became character study central. the homunana extravaganza eleganza (actual filename) was the product of one such discussion.

i love revue starlight, i love madoka magica, and i love playing in the intersection between them. so i'm only too happy to hear that i've gotten somebody else to check one or the other out, and even more so with something i've created <3 ESP since it kicked my ass hard. you should see how many layers are on that thang. madokami could NOT decide how precisely she was going to loom ethereally behind homura's angsty ass. it may not be my most popular post, but it's certainly one of my absolute favourites.

(i like to think that akemi "i persevere through the hell that is this timeloop on the futile hope that someday i can save the girl i love" homura would judge daiba "i put myself in the timeloop to get worse" nana with extreme prejudice)

so here's a fun thing to consider:

hhau has a happy ending, right? the rescue. that is their happy ending. but. it isn't really an ending, is it? because things don't end. even when scar and grian are plucked from that horrible place and placed somewhere safer, they're still riddled with trauma and things that stay and stick and linger.

one of those things they have to deal with is the knowledge that they've changed. they had to, to survive.

but the hermits don't have all the context for these changes. they see grian flinching and hiding, seemingly voluntarily grounded, easily scared. they see scar, growling and protective, wings tattered, all the sharp vex edges waiting within easy reach in case he'd need them.

neither of them are the giggly, pesky hermits the others have grown to know and love.

neither of them are the bright, talented, inspired, creative builders the others have originally invited to come join them on hermitcraft.

and it's exhausting, to constantly be aware of how the others expect them to be someone they're not. how displaced they feel. how hard it is, to look at what's meant to be their home and their family, and feel like they no longer know how to belong.

amidst this all, the hermits are searching for the signs of the people they used to know, looking for ways to help them be themselves again, instead of acknowledging that maybe this is who grian and scar are now.

have this little rp snippet as a treat:

"I know they mean well..." Scar whines into Grian's chest this time, and though there's no cozy shawl to bury himself in, it's just as comforting. "but they don't know everything, and... and I know that's mostly on us, but god it's just... it's so much sometimes, Grian."

It's not exactly pleasant to recall those memories. To try to explain just how horrific it was to their old friends. To look them in the eyes and admit that they're different now because they had to be. (And how they still hope to be loved despite it all.)
